No-Flush Waterless Urinal
Completely eliminating the use of water in urinals not only saves up to 45,000 gallons of water per year, but also reduces maintenance costs and improves restroom sanitation. The Waterless Company explains that urine is isolated from the restroom atmosphere with their unique EcoTrap®. This device contains a special liquid that is lighter than urine so it floats on top, sealing the urine from the restroom atmosphere. The urinal is plumbed to a standard 2 sanitary drain line. However, a water connection and flush valve are not needed. In new construction, this greatly reduces installation cost. In all buildings, there's no need to service or replace flush valves. Waterless No-Flush urinals have been installed for the past 10 years in all high traffic facilities such as restaurants, schools, movie theaters, city and national parks, the military etc. However, a bit of maintenance is required. The walls of the urinal are cleaned periodically like any flushed urinal and three ounces of the special BlueSeal® liquid need to be added the trap about twice each month. The EcoTrap® should be replaced two to four times per year. Several models are available including a bottom draining model. If you're concerned about hygiene, Waterless Company explains that these urinals are superior because bacteria need moisture to survive. The Waterless No-Flush urinal dries out between uses and therefore does not support bacterial growth. Plus, there is no need to touch the urinal for flushing. ADA compliant. Certified by CSA and ANSI. LEED applicable. Get the Dry Facts. For more information, please visit the Waterless Company Web site.
