All lights are Energy Star labeled fluorescents, except the lights inside the major appliances. Decorative fixtures contain standard medium screw base sockets and "mini-twist" compact fluorescent lamps.
The ceiling fans are Energy Star labeled, too. Most of the fixtures were supplied by Creative Lighting of Bend. |

Even the 60-Watt incandescent lamps in the garage door were replaced with 14-Watt compact fluorescents. |

Undercabinet T8 fluorescent fixtures put light right where you need it on the countertop. |

The Kitchenaid refrigerator and diswhasher -- both Energy Star labeled -- were supplied by Johnson Brothers Appliances of Bend. |

Front loading washers save energy and space. The "laundry room" is little more than a closet off the kitchen. And yet, it provides ample space for the stackable Thor washer and dryer and a folding counter.

Spencer Domico of Gary's Vacuflo installs the central vacuum motor in the garage. This unit exhausts to the outside ridding the house of dust, pet hair and other potential contaminants. |

Hands-free faucets from Integra-Dynamics save water by preventing the taps from running needlessly. Patented control blocks (lower inset) installed on the shut-off valves are controlled by a switch mounted behind the vanity door. Gentle pressure from a carefully positioned knee activates the water flow. This model takes about one-half hour to install. Another model, used in the kitchen (not pictured) also has a foot-pedal control. |
