Recycled Shake

The eco-shake looks like a classic cedar shake, but no ancient trees were killed to make it. The eco-shake is made by Renew Wood, Inc. with 100 percent recycled wood and plastic (PVC). It carries a 50-year warranty against mold, mildew, fungus and rot, as well as defects in materials and workmanship. It also has a Class A fire rating, and has achieved a Class IV rating (the most stringent) for impact resistance. The eco-shake also passed the 110 mph Wind Driven Rain Test, which is required by Dade County, Florida. The lightweight shingles require the same structural support as composition shingles. They can be cut and nailed with standard tools. Each package contains shakes in three different widths to more closely simulate the appearance of cedar. Four colors are available: Fawn, Sable, Dove Gray and Ebony.
