REDI simplifies the search for green building products. It combines two well-received earlier publications of Iris Communications, the REDI Guide and the Energy Source Directory.

REDI identifies companies that offer products with these environmental benefits: recycled content, energy and water saving, wood originating in sustainably managed forests, resource efficient materials, low toxicity and indoor air quality. Iris Communications now offers the database free on the Oikos World Wide Web site.

REDI contains more than 2,500 companies and organizations, covering product categories such as recycled plastic lumber, solar water heaters, indoor ventilation equipment, home appliances, paints and finishes low in volatile organic compounds, lumber reclaimed from old buildings and lumber harvested from forests certified for sustainable management. In all, more than 550 specific categories are identified.

Update: REDI is no longer published in its original form. It has evolved into an extensive online directory containing more than 2,200 compaines that you can search online... and it's free. Now we call it the Oikos Product Directory.
