Mirrors can fog up in even the best-ventilated bathrooms, so it's good to have a backup. That's where the Fog-Free Mirror backing comes in. It consists of a heat-resistant wire embedded in a fabric mesh that's placed between layers of synthetic felt and foil. It distributes heat evenly on the mirror surface to clear the fog away. The device is equipped with a 54-in. long lead wire for direct connection to the electrical supply (you can hook it up to its own switch or timer, or to the bathroom light or fan switch) and at 50 watts per unit, uses less energy than the average incandescent light bulb. It's applied with double-sided silicon tape to the back of the mirror in the area where you wish to clear the steam. It can even be glued to the back of an already installed mirror. It's available in a standard size of 18 in. by 20 in. for a price of $54. Larger sizes are available for an extra $15 per sq. ft.
