Non-CFC Air Conditioner |
Carrier Corporation recently introduced its highest efficiency, single speed residential air conditioner, the WeatherMaker 38TXA. The new unit provides a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) of 13.1 and uses a chlorine-free refrigerant. The new unit uses R-410a refrigerant, which is a blend of HFC-32 and HFC-125. This refrigerant has a relatively high operating temperature, which provides improved heat transfer. As a result, the unit requires less coil surface, making it more compact and efficient. A newly designed filter-drier ensures the unit's compatibility with existing line-sets and most indoor coils, as well as installation and service procedures similar to those of existing air conditioners. According to Carrier, the chlorine-free WeatherMaker 38TXA is the first residential air conditioner to be approved by Green Seal, a national environmental labeling organization. It also exceeds the requirements of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star Residential Program, which promotes the development and marketing of energy-efficient products that reduce energy consumption and pollution. The WeatherMaker 38RTXA also uses Carrier's Silencer System for lower sound levels. The system includes an advanced sound hood, an energy-efficient fan and fan motor, and a unique compressor vibration isolator plate. The isolator plate is made of laminated steel, which buffers noise between the unit's compressor and base pan. The WeatherMaker will be available in six capacities ranging from two to five tons. It is backed by a ten-year limited warranty on the compressor and a one-year limited warranty on parts. Contact: Carrier Corporation
