Efficient Under Cabinet Lighting

The "Little Inch Connecting System"--LINCS for short--is what the manufacturer calls "the first truly modular, plug-together, energy-efficient under-cabinet lighting system." LINCS recently won an award from the Industrial Design Society of America for outstanding new lighting design. The 1-in. diameter LINCS modules range from 9 in. to 48 in. long. The ends of the modules are fitted with Molex electrical connectors, which let you easily join the modules in rows or angles.

Lamp options for LINCS modules include 8- or 13-watt linear T5 fluorescents; 17-, 25- or 32-watt T8 fluorescents; 18-, 27- or 40-watt compact fluorescents; or 10- or 20-watt dimmable low-voltage halogens. (The fluorescents are suitable for task lighting, while the halogens work great for accent lighting.) You can even place modules with different lamps in the same row.
