Amoco recently introduced Amofoam-RCX with the same recycled content as its RCY brand, plus a protective plastic film facing on both sides. The film increases the board's strength and reduces construction-site damage. Both products contain at least 25 percent post-consumer recycled content from items such as disposable cups, plates, bowls and packaging that otherwise might have wound up in landfills. This material was collected in limited situations and through special programs. (Despite polystyrene's inherent recyclability, only a small percentage of plastic products are currently recycled.) Both products also contain industrial polystyrene waste. Amofoam-RCY and Amofoam-RCX both have an insulating value of R-5 per inch. RCX comes in 1/2- and 3/4-inch thicknesses. RCY is available in 1-, 1-1/2- and 2-inch thicknesses.
